Brian McFadden
Head Coach

“CrossFit has given me a direction. In the midst of some of my darkest days, CrossFit came into my life to save me from dying inside. I’ve been built to battle, be untamed, adventurous and explore. These are the traits that have been embedded in me since the beginning. CrossFit allows my athletes and I to re-visit the same emotional highs that we experienced as kids.In our growing years we climbed walls, wore costumes that symbolized battle, competed to be the best at tether-ball, made pipes and sticks into weapons. In these years we are naturally in “attack” mode; crushing one out of the park in little league, putting a big hit on the carrier in pop warner, or attacking the defender to sink the game winning shot. As we grow older, we lose this “attack” trait, what’s even scarier is that we think it’s ok and justify not meeting one of our deepest needs…..to fight.CrossFit brings me alive. It gives me a blank canvas to “attack” something with an organic fierceness. Instead of “attacking” that approaching pitch, I dial in and “attack” the barbell. Instead of “attacking” the carrier, I “attack” that 10k run. Instead of “attacking” the defender, I “attack” those unforgiving rings.

Life needs CrossFit. Life is calling for people to be ferocious-ferociously devoted. This is what I’ve seen from my athletes and myself, a fierce desire to battle with each other and sharpen each other through fitness. I’m not alive sitting at a desk for hours looking at P&L’s, responding to memo’s, and punching in and out; This is where my adventurous soul is strapped and my entrenched roots to battle with my brother’s is never unleashed. More than the physicality of CrossFit, I’ve also developed lifelong friends through CrossFit Training. My athletes would refer to me as a friend before a coach. As much as my athletes come to me for programming, I’ve leaned on them far greater to get me through some of the toughest times. I wrote this little message directly to my athletes:

“Through joy or through struggle, may it be well with your soul. Together we’ll triumph and together we’ll crumble. Either way, let’s take comfort knowing we’re in this together and never lose sight of the ultimate goal.”

God is at the center of this blessing. He has equipped me to develop people through fitness and CrossFit is the correlate. I want to thank Coach Glassman, all the pioneers and current leaders with CrossFit who have developed a program that can save people from dying inside and if committed to, actually experience the essence of life….”

Shawn Foa Foa
CrossFit Kids Program Director / Coach

Fitness and health has been a part of Shawn’s life in some form for as far back as he can remember. Shawn focused on basketball and volleyball in Jr. High and High School. After graduating he enlisted into the Marine Corps where he was pushed to the limit not only physically but mentally. Shawn was in the Marines for six years, and during this time he earned an associate’s degree from the University of Columbia, spent two tours in Afghanistan and eventually earned his rank as Sergeant. After finishing his duties in service he transferred to Long Beach State University and pursued his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. During the summer of 2008 Shawn decided he wanted to keep progressing and pursued a Massage Therapy Certification from Fremont College. Massage Therapy intrigued Shawn because as much as he valued the importance of health and fitness he also knew that our bodies needed proper care to maintain fitness over a lifetime. During the time Shawn was in school and working as a Massage Therapist at a Sports Chiropractic office in Long Beach California, he was still searching for more. How could he bring his passions to life and use it in a way to provide for his family as a Father of three and while having an impact on others? That same year a friend of Shawn introduced him to CrossFit. Shawn instantly fell in love with the sport of fitness, and knew that this was what he had been waiting for. Shawn then proceeded to get his Level 1 CrossFit Certification and continued to research more about this amazing community and where he might find his calling. Being a Father of a 15, 13 and 5 year old he gets to see first-hand how childhood obesity is such a huge problem in America today. Shawn then decided he wanted to make a difference in our youth’s lives and step one would be getting a CrossFit Kids Certification which he now has. Shawn’s passion is stronger than ever and he is determined to be a leader and an educator for our young people on proper fitness and nutrition. Shawn’s vision is that this efforts will grow to impact children and their families as well as be passed on to future generations.

Josel Diane Dauz
Yoga Instructor

Josel has always been fascinated with the physiology of the human body, especially the brain. She also has always been active with sports from little league baseball to high school tennis and basketball, now CrossFit, yoga and half marathons. Throughout college and in her adult years she traveled immensely and participated in extreme sports: bunging jumping, sky diving, canyon swinging, glacier hiking, and snowboarding which brought her back to yoga due to injuries. Her restless adventure seeking nature found stillness in power yoga which blended the extreme and restorative. The extreme component is that being the headstands/inversions she loves to play with at the box. With her degrees in Neuroscience and Biological Sciences, she also finds the beauty in the science of yoga. She sees each posture is beneficial and can help to alleviate the strain and stress in the body. Recently, after almost two years of practicing intensely, she received her 200hr yoga certification through Corepower Yoga. Teaching yoga will be a new adventure for her that she’s excited to share and start with CrossFit idoG. CrossFit and yoga have helped her in both realms. CrossFit gave her the strength to do postures that were seemingly impossible and yoga has given her the flexibility, mental and breathing control to attack a tough workout. Her goal is to share the knowledge she’s acquired to improve each members abilities physically and mentally through techniques in yoga that she also utilizes in CrossFit. Ultimately, she hopes to exude God’s love in all she does and share her faith through her passions.

Why “idoG”?

“Anyone who destroys God’s temple; God destroys him. For God’s temple is sacred and you are that temple.” 1 Corinthians 3:17

How are you treating your temple? Are continually building it or destroying it? Our bodies are God’s temples. We believe that striving for radiant health is one more way that we can thank God for our blessings. We here at idoG believe that in order to commit to lasting change in your health, the desire for change must be greater than self-motivation. The flesh is weak, so to rely on it for a lifestyle commitment to sound health will crumble with time.
God wants you to be vibrant and healthy so he can use you for his purpose. Being healthy in its simplest terms is something we all know, but why do we neglect it so widely? Or better yet, “You know these things—-now do them!” (John 13:17)

idoG seeks to honor God by pursuing excellence in every area of our coaching. idoG is passionate about growing, educating and enabling individuals to improve their mind, body, and soul health.

idoG does this by:

· Offering a refuge for athletes to “sharpen each other” (Proverbs 27:17), connect with themselves and God through all levels of CrossFit training. .
· Providing the opportunity for athletes to experience mind, body, soul and health transformation.
· Creating opportunities for our athletes to serve others in love.
· Maintaining a non-judgmental atmosphere where you will be encouraged to be your best and “persevere under trial” (James 1:12).

We view our time here as a qualifying event for the Olympic Games upstairs.

“Those who enter the games, go into strict training.” (1 Corinthians 9:25). With that said, are you training hard enough physically, mentally and spiritually to earn a qualifying spot for the Games after this life?
